N Filmes is an independent production company based in Recife (Brazil), founded in 2014 by Alex Carvalho, Diana Sette, and joined by Adriana Rouanet in 2019. Our primary focus is to produce compelling audiovisual content with a strong emphasis on URM’s stories and universal narratives.
Director Alex Carvalho lives and works between London and Recife, and is available for screenings or speaking engagements.
Alex Carvalho (1973) spent his formative years in Recife, Brazil. After a year working in war-torn Angola, he moved to London to pursue a Master’s in film at Central Saint Martins and study direction at the NFTS. He has worked with the BBC, Netflix, NY Times, Amnesty Int, Safer World, Brian Eno, U2, among others. His films have been shown at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes Santiago, MAM São Paulo, Photographers’ Gallery London, Les Rencontres d’Arles and Les Arcs. The Salamander is his debut feature film.

Producer and Executive Adriana Rouanet lives and works between London and Rio.
Adriana Rouanet has 15+ years experience as a cultural producer and consultant in the UK and in Brazil. She joined N Filmes in 2019 to co-produce the company’s first feature project. Adriana is a dynamic and experienced networker and fundraiser, and a firm believer that collaborative production and immersive experiences are powerful means of personal & social transformation. She is currently involved in multiple cultural projects in Europe and Latam and is producing three feature-length films.
